MAINPHOTO HAS CLOSED dr5 LAB strives to provide the best, most consistent quality processing for the remaining scala film. THERE SIMPLY ISNT A BETTER QUALITY SERVICE FOR B&W REVERSAL PROCESSING. dr5 LAB process SCALA to a higher standard than that of the old AGFA process. No one processes SCALA film better than us. dr5-LAB is the only lab left in the US and world [except Germany], capable of processing the SCALA-film with quality and consistency, & we still process SCALA better than AGFA ever did or will challenge any other labs quality! dr5-chrome is committed to running this film, to the last roll. We have been processing B&W slide for over 20 years, long before scala-film was introduced. INDUSTRY NOTE: AGFAPHOTO is out of business. None of AGFAPHOTO'S films are being manufactured. The SCALA-film left in the market place is all that there is left. There are no official Agfa-scala labs remaining. The dr5 lab is the last world-wide source for quality processing of the remaining SCALA-film. Currently; B&H is sold out of SCALA. They do not expect to get more in-stock http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/100348REG/Agfa ABOUT SCALA: Scala is a very sharp, well-designed negative film for use in AGFA's DIA-type Scala process, now discontinued with AGFAPHOTOs closing in '04. Contrary to belief Scala is a B&W-ORTHO "NEGATIVE" film. SCALA film is an orthochromatic [partial] clear-base film type that runs better through the dr5 process. Comparison-processing Tests indicate a 15-20% on average quality improvement over the old AGFA process. Scala film produces a first-rate neutral in developer-1, and a 'milk-chocolate' sepia in developer-2. Scala FILM has a medium tonal range with good detail in the blacks and whites in dr5. It has less depth than many of the other films due to its ortho-film qualities. Film such as TXP & FP4 are panchromatic and produce superior results. SCALA normal iso is@ 200. Due to age of the remaining film we recommend you expose
this film no higher than 400iso. We can run SCALA to its advertised 1600 iso however, It is not recommended given the films current age. Push charges apply to run this film @ 400 - 800 EI-range
20-400 - 800 MAXiso Go to our TECH PAGES
Update: MAINPHOTO HAS CLOSED. MAINPHOTO's scala-processing pages are still online. This further add's to the confusion about processing, wastes your time & potentially your film might be lost sending your film there. DO NOT SEND YOUR SCALA TO MAINPHOTO. You could loose it. dr5 IS NOT affiliated with AGFA or MAINPHOTO. NOTE ON THE US COMPETITION: The last remaining AGFA-holdout, MAINPHOTO in California, has closed. They have chosen to tell past customers to throw their SCALA film away rather than give them dr5 as a resource or even give negative processing suggestions. We find this a despicable action and a travesty to today's photography. We welcome all the poorly serviced MAINPHOTO clientele, and hope your experience wasn't too terrible. We will continue to process the SCALA film, as well as we have always done it. As well, continuing with dr5. |
